Hey everyone! One thing that is very fun about American high schools is we can leave for lunch! Only upperclassman can leave, which are juniors (11th grade) and seniors (12th grade). Since they are older, must students can drive, or can walk, to a nearby restaurant or market to enjoy lunch. Its one of the special treats for being an upperclassman in high school! Its a great way to have a fun time with friends outside of school, but just remember to be back when lunch is over! The younger grades, freshman (9th grade) and sophomores (10th grade) have to stay on campus during lunch. This is for a number of reasons, but the main one is so they get acquainted with their classmates and make good friends they can hang out with for the lunches to come! Plus, it gives you something to look forward to coming to school year after year. Overall, its a great system that supports our stomachs and the neighboring businesses!

I guess your schools are way more strict then the Norwegian ones -we can leave as long as we're not supposed to be in class, and if we're not back in time it's super easy to give the teacher a message - he won't care if the reason is good enough.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! Wow your school sounds awesome! Here, they have to have regulation or the students would leave all the time and never come back! However, if you have a note from a parent you can leave. Other than that your pretty much stuck! When we are not suppose to be in a class we are not required to be at school, but when you do have class, you have to be there, or have a good reason for missing!
ReplyDeleteNot all American schools allow you to go off campus for lunch... mine didn't. It was allowed for some years before I went through, but it wasn't when I was there and isn't like that currently, as far as I am aware.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! Yes I know that not all schools let you leave, but I was just trying to write about something that I have at my school that is cool! I know some schools do not have it and hopefully my post lets everyone know about the fun, and pressure, that comes along with it.
